keep looking, don't settle.
いま使っているiPod shuffle には主にSoca やReggae が入っているが、ひとつだけ、音声メインのファイルがある。仕事からの帰り道、シャッフルにしていると突然かかって驚き、そのまま聞き入ってしまう。それがApple Computer およびPixar Animation Studios のCEO 、Steve Jobs（スティーブ・ジョブズ）が2005年6月にスタンフォード大学で行った卒業スピーチ。
この15分ほどのスピーチにはすでに多くの人が言及し、英語の全文も公開され、優れた日本語訳も出ているので全体については語らない。ただ、いつも意図しないタイミングで耳に飛び込んでくるこのスピーチを聴くたび、違った印象が心に残り、違ったフレーズがリフレインする。いま、折に触れて思い出すのは「keep looking, don't settle.」のくだり。
Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking (until you find it). Don't settle.……まだまだこれからだ。
